About me

Portrait-Mike1finale.jpg

I was born in Normandy to French/Macedonian parents. I studied Fine Arts in Rouen before leaving the north of France and settling in Provence. I have lived here for over 20 years and have now built my own home and studio – ‘The Foraged Studio’ – in the village of Eygalières with my wife, the photographer Joanna Maclennan, and our daughter, Poppy.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in art and working with my hands. From collecting driftwood to searching through brocantes and salvage yards, the fascination with wood, paper, metal and earth, followed by the transformation of these materials into other forms, has always appealed to me. Dealing antiques was a natural progression: I am continually searching for rare and unusual objects. I create compositions, installations and scenes, inspired, in part, by the atmosphere of the cabinet de curiosité. This alongside making art with paper, using old botanical and anatomical images, leading to unique artworks in old entomology boxes or glass domes.

In my shop you will find a list of art pieces, brocantes and prints available to buy, but you are welcome to contact me if you are looking for antiques in particular, or commissioned artwork.
